Jack attended a performance by Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Simon to benefit Autism last night. There are pictures (unfortunately very small ones) at wireimage but we will as always keep our eyes peeled for larger versions!

2001 Audio Interview

Jack gave an audio interview to Extra during the promotion of The Pledge. The interview talks about the movie but also touches on Jack's feelings about the Oscars, celebrity and includes some interesting anecdotes. It's always great to get the audio of Jack's comments rather than just a written transcript, because you get a much clearer sense of his meaning when you can hear his tone. Also he just has a great voice! Updates to the site may be a little slower over the next couple of weeks we are trying to complete the film section and get it online! We will post news as often as we can though!

The Departed wrapping

Tom here with an update on The Departed courtesy of the NY Post's Page six. It's always nice to read positive buzz but let's not count our oscars before the fat lady even clears her throat. It's hard not to get a bit premature with this one though, the word on the script has been good and the talent involved is top class.

Recent additions to Extras

Four more fab additions to Extras. The first is an article from the March 27, 1970 issue of Life Magazine and the second is an interview from the September 1990 issue of Life Magazine. The third set of scans are from the Winter 99 special edition of Entertainment Weekly and finally I have added the photo feature from the October 2002 Interview Magazine. All the new interviews/articles include fabulous photos. It's hard to pick a favourite! -- Sara

98 Rolling Stone and 2003 Time

I have added two more Jack Interviews from Rolling Stone and Time Magazine to the Magazine scans in the extras section. I have also updated the miscellaneous magazine scans gallery with some more pictures of Jack looking very cool from Vanity Fair, Premiere and US Weekly. I have also added a fan map to the extras section. We have had more than 1500 visitors to the site since we went online just a couple of months ago, thanks for dropping by.

1972 Playboy Interview

I've added scans of Jack Nicholson's Interview in Playboy from 1972 to the magazine scans in the extras section. It is titled a candid conversation and that's no exaggeration! Jack is incrediby forthright about his attitudes to drugs and sex. The interview is one of the more fascinating I have read. It provides a really interesting window into Jack's early career, as well as a little insight into the music he was listening to, and the books he was reading, around that time.
Also as of September 12th The Departed was still filming in New York but it must be due to wrap soon and there has been no word of Jack returning to the set for any re-shoots as previously rumored in The Boston Herald.

Video Clips

I have been meaning to post for a couple of days but I've been on a bit of a mission to find clips for the Film section of Jack doing movie publicity. It's not easy to find clips of Jack as Jack, because he doesn't like to do filmed interviews very much (er...understatement). The good news is that he participated in a Press Conference for About Schmidt at Cannes and it was filmed. To see this clip of Jack answering questions and discussing About Schmidt, and also a clip of him attending a photo call for About Schmidt and sitting in on Alexander Payne's Interview session, you can click here and select a media player. There is also a clip of Jack arriving at the Cannes premiere of About Schmidt and some clips relating to The Pledge, which do not feature Jack but which do discuss his acting. However, the About Schmidt Clips, especially the Press Conference, make interesting viewing for fans as we haven't had much opportunity to watch Jack talk about any of his films. What I would give for him to be on Inside the Actors Studio or something similar.

Also you can catch a tiny snippet of Jack accepting his first Oscar over on Oscar.com in the Best Moments from Oscar Acceptance Speeches Clip. You do have to listen to Sally Field telling everyone she knows they like her but it's worth it we think.

Also check out the new book and magazine scan galleries I added to extras a couple of days ago if you haven't already -- Tom.

Time Magazine & The Passenger

The Michelangelo Antonioni Retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art started yesterday. As I previously posted, The premiere screening of the new print of The Passenger will be shown this Thursday as part of the month long program and Michelangelo Antonioni and his wife will be in attendance. More details are available here and here. I found it interesting to read that Jack had held the rights to the film and that he would have been involved in the decision to re-release it and make it available on DVD. Thank you Jack!
We have added the 1990 Interview Magazine scans to the Extras section and have the scans for the August 12 1974 Time Magazine ready to go! Hope you are all having a fun weekend -- Sara

Shelter from the Storm Pics

I hope you got a chance to see and support the Shelter from the Storm telethon for the Gulf Coast tonight, if you missed it, there was a very cute episode between Jack and a caller that he serenaded with the Song Maria! Pictures of Jack on screen, backstage and manning the phones such as these from AP (click to enlarge photos 1, 2 and 6 - the first two and last shown) and Wireimage, are beginning to come in and we will post any more we find! -- Sara

Jack will appear at Katrina Benefit

Reuters have reported that Jack Nicholson along with Sheryl Crow, Alicia Keys, Neil Young, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Ray Romano, Cameron Diaz, Sela Ward, Chris Rock and many others will participate in a Hurricane Katrina Benefit which will be televised this Friday at 8pm ET. We are glad to see Jack helping out in this way. Our prayers are with the many people touched by this tragedy. Please make a donation if you can, the telecast will be shown around the world and phone numbers will be provided, so please help, as every little bit makes a difference. -- Tom & Sara

Extra Extra

The Extras section is finally up and running! It includes magazine scans, wallpapers, audio interviews, the tributes Jack Nicholson wrote for Marlon Brando and Hunter S Thompson and my personal favourite the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gallery.

Among the magazine scans are new ones not previously posted in news, these include a January 2004 Esquire Article, September 2005 M2 magazine (this is a New Zealand magazine that Jack is currently on the cover of) and some pictures from a 1998 Entertainment Weekly piece. There is a lot more to add and do, but we hope you'll enjoy this. If anyone finds a link that doesn't work please let me know. I tried to double check everything but a snafu might have gotten thru.

More on The Passenger re-release

Just a quick update to say that Sony Classics are setting up a site for the Passenger @ www.thepassengermovie.com ahead of its October 28 re-release (see my previous news entry on August 24 for details) It still has the "coming soon" shingle hanging out the front but they do have a photogallery up with 9 new stills that weren't in the stills gallery at Sony Classics, that you might like to check out. I have also added them to The Passenger Gallery in Photos. I will keep an eye on the site to see when more is added! -- Sara

Publicity Gallery

Finally! with apologies to Lucy for the delay, here are the wonderful photos that she kindly sent in, thanks again! I have added the publicity gallery to Photos and I have included a few of the photos we had in favourites. Which opens a few fresh slots in the favourites gallery! So we will have to get our thinking caps on and replace them! So heres a shout out to Mandy if you see this - we'll be adding the pic you suggested! -- Sara

More Magazine Scans

Perhaps not the most informative title but I come bearing PDF's. These will be added to the extras section but I still think we'll post all updates in News so that people don't have to check every page just this section, to know if there is something new they want to look at. S'ok ladies?

Here for your entertainment are

* Jack's interview in the April 2003 Interview Magazine.
* Jack's chat with Benicio (another cool dude) from November 2002 Interview Magazine.
* "The Amazing Life of Jack Nicholson" from Biography Magazine
* An eyebrows?? special from Biography Magazine.

These are all PDF's and so you will need Adobe to read them but everyone has adobe right? Well if you don't, pick it up at adobe.com - it's free. -- Tom

Empire Magazine

Wow! I have just been looking at the site stats and I can't believe how many visitors we are getting, some fans come to the site every day! I hope you are enjoying what we are posting. You might have noticed that I am a big fan of Jack Interviews but today for a change, I am posting a cool article from Empire because it gives a good overview of jack's career and also it has nice pics! Click here to see it. You can post a comment if you like and let us know if you agreed with what they selected for Jack's top ten films. I would have put One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest at number one, but we're all different. Oh and btw for anyone who isn't familiar with blogger anyone can leave a comment you don't have to register or anything too tedious. We have almost completed the Extras section so look out for it in the next couple of days, as it will have some great new material, lots and lots of wonderful Jack!

'84 American Film & '85 Film Comment

I have scanned in two more great interviews with Jack from the mid 80's! These are really indepth and because they are from American Film and Film Comment, Jack talks a lot about his craft, how he chooses roles and his views on film-making. In Film Comment he tells some wonderful stories about the making of Prizzi's Honor and in American Film we are treated to some behind the scenes stories about Terms of Endearment. Both interviews include some great photos as well. I loved reading these and I hope you will too. Click on the magazine covers to view the interviews.

Stay tuned for more great magazine article scans which I will hopefully have time to load this weekend
