The Passenger Publicity

Ahead of The Passenger's re-release in New York, starting this week, and the run at the Nuart, in Los Angeles, starting on November 4, Jack gave an interview to the LA Times, to read it click here. To view the photo that accompanied it click on the thumbnail to your left. You can get information on showtimes for The Passenger here if you live in New York or Los Angeles. For those of us who don't, a hi-res quicktime version of the trailer is now available on line which is a vast improvement on the AOL version. It will have to tide us over until the DVD comes out! -- Sara

100 Icons of the century

Variety published their centennial issue yesterday and as part of their special 100 year celebration they included a list of the top 100 icons of the last hundred years. Of course no such list would be complete without the one and only Jack Nicholson. Click here to view Jack's entry and here for the complete feature -- Tom

Batman Special Edition

The Batman Special Edition DVD was unleashed a couple of days ago and we grabbed a copy, eager to get our hands on the extra goodies and to see the new interviews with Jack. The good news for Jack and Joker fans is that there is quite a lot of interview footage with Jack as well as a featurette on the Joker and the Jokers make-up. The extras are well done, the documentaries are informative and there is quite a lot of on set photos and footage to give you a behind the scenes sneak peek. This DVD is well worth checking out for any Jack fan. Here are a few screen captures to give you a preview of what's on the DVD. We will add more soon -- Tom

Cry Baby Killer

The Cry Baby Killer was Jack's debut film. He was just 21 years old when he starred as Jimmy Wallace in this Roger Corman produced AIP film. The film is a little scarce but DVD's and video's of the film can be bought at Videobeat. We were pretty excited when the film arrived in the mail on Saturday It was great to be able to watch Jack's debut and we have created a Cry Baby Killer gallery of screen caps we have made from the film. They aren't very good quality sorry as the DVD quality wasn't wonderful but we hope you'll enjoy a slice of cinema history -- Tom

The Passenger Trailer online

The Passenger trailer is now online over at AOL and well worth checking out if you haven't already seen it. Click here to go to the site and view it. The website for the movie is still not active but with the re-release just over a fortnight away, I hope it will go live soon! There is a fabulous review of the film following its showing at the NYFF over at Cinematical. The re-release will be limited and as this is not a mainstream commercial film, the run will probably be brief, so if you are lucky enough to live somewhere, where you can watch it on the big screen, make sure you see it as close to opening as possible. I have only seen a "ratty vhs" version and I could still see it was a visually stunning film which would be best viewed on the big screen! -- Sara

More New Pics

A couple of weeks ago Jack attended the "For One Night Only" Concert given by Paul Simon and Jerry Seinfeld to benefit Autism Speaks. At the time we posted some small photos from Wireimage. We have since been sent some larger versions of these photos which we hugely appreciate, the person who sent them asked us not to thank them but we just can't help it! Thank you! Please click here to view.

The first of the photos from the inaugural Jack Nicholson and Rudy Durand Celebrity Golf Classic are now online at wireimage Please follow this link to see them. We hope to have some better ones to post in the next couple of days! Jack sure has had a busy few weeks, we can hardly keep up with him!

Jack supports The Painted Turtle

The Inaugural Jack Nicholson & Rudy Durand Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit the Painted Turtle is today! The event will be held at Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes. Page Six reported that Mark Wahlberg, James Caan, Adam Sandler, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Romano and other celebrities are also expected to play. The painted Turtle camps are an off-shoot of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall camps. They are for children aged between 7 and 16 who suffer from serious illnesses such as Diabetes, Muscular Dystrophy and Haemophilia and provide an opportunity for the children to have fun in a supportive environment and at no cost, making the camps accessible to children from lower socio-economic backgrounds. It's a very worthwhile cause. We hope the weather will be great and all the players have a good day. We will post photos from the event later. To view details click here.

Go Yankees!

Jack was spotted at Game 1 of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels last Tuesday, October 4, in Anaheim California. Click on the thumbnail at left to view a larger picture of Jack in his Yankees cap. Jack must have been a good luck charm with the Yankees winning game 1 on Tuesday but the Angels won on the Wednesday to tie things up. Game 3 is tomorrow in New York. Hands up if you secretly wish Jack was commentating? After that famous commentary scene from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, how could you not -- Tom

The Passenger Screenings

Just a reminder to anyone in the New York area that The Passenger will be screened this Saturday October 8th at 6pm as part of the New York Film Festival. I don't know what the ticket situation is like but here is the relevant page on the festival site if you are lucky enough to be able to go!

Here are some pictures from the recent screening of the new print of Antonioni's preferred cut of The Passenger in LA. The premiere of the new print was attended by Jack, Michelangelo Antonioni and his wife Enrica as well as Kathy Bates.

The following article appeared in last weeks Variety:

Nicholson takes audience on wild ride
Oscar winner chats with fans at 'Passenger' screening
By BILL HIGGINS

Marsha Kinder and Jack Nicholson talk about Michelangelo Antonioni's 'Passenger.'

Jack Nicholson left no question about his admiration for Michelangelo Antonioni at the Acad's recent unspooling of "The Passenger."
Thesp was onstage with the Italian helmer (who does not speak due to a stroke) and wife Enrica Fico Antonioni, plus program host Marsha Kinder, a USC professor of critical studies. Nicholson took off on a stream-of-consciousness no matter how the mildly pedantic Kinder phrased a question.
"His integrity is insane," Nicholson said, later speculating Antonioni "doesn't totally approve of me, but he likes me."

Timothy White Portrait

Renowned photographer Timothy White took this portrait of Jack back in November 2002 and as I had seen a small version, I had been trying to find a larger one! I finally found this in Biography magazine and scanned it. Doesn't Jack look great! I love this photo. Timothy White had the following to say about how the portrait came about.
This image was taken during the Anger Management movie poster shoot. In this type of photo shoot environment, many times I am limited by the needs of my clients, the characters that the actors are there to portray - and with their schedules, I sometimes have only a few minutes to accomplish the shoot. The pressure is intense to pull everything off, so often the shot for my portfolio must happen within those parameters. Sometimes, time and talent permitting, I have the opportunity to grab something for myself, but mostly those occasions are few and far between. In this case, we were shooting on white seamless and Jack was just being Jack; self-possessed, wry and devilishly fun. What I like about this particular image is it gives you an instant hit of his energy. Timothy White was the 2004 International Photographer of the year.

Film section is Go!

Finally! We have made enough of a dent in the massive project that is the films section to put the first of the work that has been done, online! Woo hoo we are pretty happy to have all the links active. We have loaded the filmography and the pages relating to Jack's movies from 1990 (The Two Jakes) through to today. Pages for the rest of Jack's incredible career will eventually be added. So stay tuned!

We have hunted down links to screenplays, production notes, trailers and video clips etc and we have also added some new interviews and scans not shown elsewhere on the site so there is lots of new stuff for you to check out!

The Departed will have a separate page ...er which we are still to set up. Hmmm that to do list is looking pretty long! lol

If anyone has any suggestions for anything they would like to be added to the film section please let us know.

Happy October! -- Sara
