Today's clip is from one of Jack Nicholson's most famous movies The Shining. Although this week's clips have been part of a birthday tribute, I confess I have had an ulterior motive in slecting the clips I have and that was simply to remind all fans of Jack nicholson's incredible range. I know anyone who has taken the time to watch these clips will have seen Jack inhabit a range of very different roles. In all of these roles, Jack's portrayal is so realistic, yet effortless that it is easy to assume that he is "not acting" at all. I think that perhaps explains a common misconception amongst some people who are not familiar with his considerable body of work, that being the impression that Jack is just Jack. It is perhaps the ultimate compliment but it is also most decidedly untrue. Jack Nicholson is a true artist a dedicated craftsman who puts together a role so seamlessly that you do not see where it begins and he ends but as these clips illustrate their are distinctly different personalities being bought to life and the exceptional quality of the work should be acknowledged and respected.
